Teri Polo, the actress best known for her role in the trilogy of “Meet the Parents” films, has filed for bankruptcy protection. She currently stars on the ABC Family show “The Fosters.” Polo is a resident of Manhattan Beach, California.
Her Chapter 11 filing shows that she has assets estimated to be less than $50,000 and debts of approximately $1 million. Taxes make up a large part of Polo’s liabilities. She owes nearly $745,000 to the Internal Revenue Service and about $27,000 to the California Franchise Tax Board.
Polo’s other debts include almost $30,000 to American Express and nearly $7,000 to Chase. Edwin McPherson, Polo’s previous landlord, filed a lawsuit against Polo claiming she owes $30,000 in fees resulting from the actress allegedly leaving her old apartment covered in dog feces and urine.
Polo disputes this claim. Polo filed her bankruptcy petition with a Los Angeles court on April 14, 2014.
